Dasavatharam - a genuine review

Really long time since i sat down to write something. May be dint find anything significant in life that will be of Public interest.Have a reason now:
Dasavatharam was one of those most awaited movies where there was a huge hue and cry made about every aspect of it taking the film to international standards. I just got to see the film yesterday (29.06.2008) after hearing to mixed reactions and responses from peers.Well, here are my views.
Theme:
Honestly speaking the film fails to meet the expectations that was both prevalant and was induced. The primary reasons one would cite will be that the movie does not stick to one Premise. To clarify, it does not revolve around one theme or narrative( say only chaos theory). The attempt to talk much about ecological imbalance, religious diversities have caused a drift in the movie though the brain-behind( kamal) wanted to emphasise the insignificance of human belief systems and bias in relation to the cosmic existence.
Commercial compromises:
Would not blame the actor-director to have compromised on commercial elements like an item number and a few stunts here and there but the attempt to sandwich humour throughout the movie does not sink well with a so-called thriller.Neither does the context support humour to be prevalant in the first place nor does there is any good humour that backs it up. Writer Sujatha is seriously felt missing and its sad that both sujatha and crazy mohan are confined only to story discussion. Kamal's yet another lapse to delegate things clearly shows off.
Make -Up:
Should definitely appreciate the courage and confidence to don ten roles and thats probably the only appetizer for the audience towards the movie.
At the same time it would have been good if Mr. Bravo( kamal) has understood the limitations as well. A lot of close-up shots could have been avoided to give a good overall impression and each personality could have had lesser on-screen time to make it really short and sweet.
Examples:
-Paati consciously covering her breasts with saree is seen enough in avvai shanmugi and its hightime he stopped this gesture to depict a woman.
-Balram naidu would have been more effective if he had spoken less.
-George bush's get up could have been avoided. It looks like a cartoon.we know Kamal can speak english in american accent. We dont need to learn it thru George Bush.
Except Poova ragan, rangarajan Nambi and balram naidu's get up others look extremely artificial and need not have been so ostentatiously shown to win any appreciation.

The weakest link in the movie is the dialogues. Dint you all wonder why an indian scientist from the USA speaks sanga thamizh only in the introductory speech? RIDICULOUS.
Again we all know that Kamal is good with his tamizh and he need not flaunt it in all of his movies.Dialogues were again pathetic when attempting "Intelligent humour" in the train with vaishnav jargons and the difficulty to gel humour within is felt vividly. We miss you crazy mohan sir!
Asin's shoe-socks bit was a real pair of stinking socks.
Asin was a real loosener across the movie and nothing can justify her jinxed behaviour.
Technology and Graphics:
9 on 10 for technological accomplishments across the movie. tsunami and car chases have been really much above Indian standards and full credit to the technicians. Again a few shots could have been cut short not to expose the limitations. Example: Car sinking in tsunami shown till the end.
Conclusion:
Well Mr. Kamal, you have only 2.5 hrs for an indian movie and this is not the last movie that you are going to make. So pls reserve things for the next ones as well and lets avoid such over doses going forward.
The movie would have been fabulous if it was served as a mini meal instead of a food festival.
